SCALE & DIMENSION - HOW TO RESIZE A DESIGN SO IT FITS THE WALL
Here is the wall divided into 5 sections ( 16.5ft wide x 6.5 ft tall) Here are the dimensions for each of the 5 sections. You will need to make your design fit these proportions. sketch_panels.pdfI drew one inch for one foot. To scale this to fit to paper you are working. Match the corner of your page to the left corners of this image, draw a vertical line up from the length of your paper / page. Where it meet the diagonal line is the height of your design. Draw a horizontal line across from there. Download a printable template. ROLES IN YOUR GROUP
We will split up into 5 groups of 6 Each group will have someone in charge of the following:- o Designers – A class decision. - Collaborates with the other groups. - In charge of making sure the whole painting works. - The ‘glue’ for your group and go between with the other groups. o Sketchers - Will need to stay after school to sketch projection onto the wall when dark o Color blockers - Work out the main colors for the background and shapes to fill in. - Direct the colors to be mixed. - Organize which paints to order ( By Nov 18th) o Stencilers - Design the stencils to be used - Direct the drawing and making of the stencils. o Detailers - Adding the detail to the colors blocks and the stenciled shapes. o Finishing touches - Making sure there are no gaps etc – quality control - - Coordinating the signatures. |

Tues. Nov 29th - Spray techniques & making masks
Projecting onto wall - what it took.
Sketching out the design the most important part of mural painting - especially when it's a commissioned piece. Your client will expect to see the same design they approved on the wall. Hopefully you designed with the location in mind this is the time you can see all your elements in place to scale and plan for painting, stencils and make adjustments if things don't look so good in place.

|
I suggest taking a photo of the wall before we paint it as it may get painted over with the background, plus any details you may want and measure / trace out your portion for size and reference later.
Space painting
Space painting is a fun way to get the feel of spray paint and learn some cool techniques you can apply to the mural.
Watch the video(s) and then we can make our masks and stencils.
